FAQS

  • Do you have a drone?

Yes, I do! And I love to use it.

I don’t charge extra for drone footage but, if I am filming on my own, I'll normally only have time to fly it in the morning (to get beautiful establishing shots) and then quickly during the reception.

If you’d like key moments filmed (e.g ‘driving away’ from the ceremony) or lots of drone footage, I’d suggest we consider getting a second shooter for the day.

Unfortunately, I can't fly my drone in the rain or when wind speeds are over 24mph (although I have been known to take a few risks…!).

  • What time do you arrive and leave?

My arrival time depends on your morning plans.

I love coming early to capture early morning swims or golf etc. and I don’t charge for the extra hours of filming and editing, but it normally does require an extra overnight the night before, which I think is worth it…!

As soon as you have a rough schedule for the day, it's helpful for me to see it so I can create a filming schedule we can then talk through. I spend a lot of time on my filming schedule because I can't be in two places at once and want to capture as much of the day as possible for you.

I never leave until I have enough dance floor footage to do the party justice. This is normally about 1 hour after the first dance.

  • Can we have a full copy of our speeches?

Yes! I always like to give my couples a full copy of their wedding speeches.

To help capture a good recording of your speeches for you to watch/ listen back, it would be helpful 20mins before speeches start for someone to tell me exactly where the speakers will stand so I can set this up nicely.
I would also encourage you to tell your speakers to stand in the same spot (i.e. not roam) so they don’t walk out of frame.

  • Do you use second shooters?

For the majority of weddings, I come on my own. It means fewer cameras in faces! But, for particularly big weddings, I'd suggest we consider a second shooter so I can capture as many guests as possible and be in two places at once. It also means we can capture the groom's reaction as well as the bride coming down the aisle. Nine times out of ten I can capture both by leaving a tripod on the groom, but guests have occasionally blocked this camera and, with a second shooter, this can be avoided.

The picture above is a still taken from my second shooter's footage while we filmed the confetti line together and I was at the front.

  • Can we choose our music?

Of course. It’s your film after all! Just send me a list of your favourite tracks but if you choose ‘popular music tracks’, the film can not be used online for copyright licensing reasons.

If you’d like like me to use licensed music, I license tracks from musicbed.com. I choose tracks that fit the vibe of the day, but you’re welcome to choose too if you’d like.

  • When will we receive our film?

At the moment, I'm turning the Teaser around in a week, and the main film in 10-12 weeks.

  • Can we have a full copy of our ceremony?

When filming a wedding, there are generally two approaches: 1) set up multiple tripods in strategic positions to capture the event 'in full', or 2) film handheld and capture all the smaller, sweet moments.

I prioritise the latter, capturing the more personal moments on the fly. This means I don't man multiple tripods and can't offer you a full copy of your ceremony, but I think this makes for a sweeter more personal film.

If you would definitely like a full copy of your ceremony, I'll need a second shooter.

  • Do you take photos?

I am happy to offer stills from my footage as an optional 'add on'. This is a particularly option for those who have booked one photographer (rather than two).

I try and stand in different positions to the photographer where possible to give you as full a coverage of the day as possible.

  • Can we have the raw files?

I don't send raw files but I do offer a 'Feature Film', with all the shots from your day, colour graded, in a 'home video' style.

  • My granny can't travel to the wedding...

A wedding is one of the only events in your lifetime for all of your friends and family to be in one place, so it's always so sad when a key person can't be there.

There have been a few weddings where a grandparent hasn't been able to travel for a wedding and, on these occasions, it can be lovely to include them in some way (e.g. incorporating a video or voice message from them into the film). If this is the case for you, let me know and I can arrange this with a family member.

  • How do you work with photographers?

    Well!

My filming is very relaxed and documentary in style so I just work around the photographer(s). For the 'couples photos', I don't ask couples to pose but capture whatever the photographer is getting from behind them from a different angle, so you're not getting direction from multiple people. It's pretty informal and easy! Once I've got enough content of the couples photos, I leave the photographer to it (if they're capturing more!) and head back to capture guests.
